Allow Happiness to be your teacher

Happiness and yoga creates an endless cycle

In my own healing journey, I often heard things like “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” or “pain is the touchstone of spiritual growth” or “life begins on the other side of your comfort zone.”  My own experience both affirms these truths and turns them on their head.  The deepest, most powerful and enduring shifts have taken place inside of me in states of happiness and rest.  I am not trying to become stronger.  I am already strong enough.  My work is to soften.  For anybody healing from trauma or overwhelming loss, and perhaps for all of us in general, this is crucial.  Many of us have had to relearn what it is to feel safe inside of our own skin and how to regain trust in the benevolence of life. Laughter, cheerfulness, peace, kindness, love, joy, giggles, hugs, smiles… these are my most impactful teachers today!  So if you feel ecstatically happy, pay attention! Become intimately acquainted with the sensations of gladness, celebration and wellbeing inside of you.  Let these feelings flood your whole being and allow them to serve as your spirit guides.  I am a firm believer that our natural state is joy, that it is ever present within us, and that we simply need to uncover it and allow it to spread.
