Brief Course Description:

This is an advanced course of study for those who are interested in learning how to apply yoga therapeutically to address human suffering in its myriad forms and to holistically support an even deeper level of wellness in your students. This program is well-suited for anyone wishing to reach a wider demographic of students, to offer teacher training programs of their own, to attract more private clients, or to simply add a greater nuance to their group classes. But it is also here to provide connection, direction, and support to you as individuals - as much on a personal level as a professional level.

Course Goals:

My aim is to support you in building an unshakeable foundation for:

  • understanding human movement

  • appreciating the mystery and miracle of the body-mind continuum

  • experiencing first-hand the awe-inspiring power of yoga to relieve suffering

  • knowing how to apply the tools of yoga to holistically support wellness in your students

Longer Course Description

The 1,000-hour training can be completed virtually in its entirety. It involves completing a minimum of 500 hours of additional study beyond your already-completed 200- and 300-hour trainings. This is a more structured training than the 300-hour program and moves at a slower pace. Instead of feeling like you are drinking from a fire hose, I want this training to feel like you are picking up a glass and taking a drink of clear, reviving water – one sip at a time. Essential lectures and practices are delivered in real-time so that there is less burden on you to schedule them into your busy lives and, most of all, so that we can have more fun!

If you are looking for a training that you can crank through, this is not it! This is a three-year course of study. Think of it like the ultimate process pose – inviting you every step of the way to savor the journey rather than fixating on the end goal.

There are many trainings out there that are offered in modules and there are tremendous advantages to this format. However, that has never been my style since I love weaving all the threads of yoga together in an unfolding tapestry so to speak. So this is a training that involves patience and presence and will hopefully offer you tremendous enjoyment.

It is my hope that this training will transform your lives and open up many new and unforeseen possibilities for you as a teacher. This is a lofty goal but the work that we do and the satisfaction that we draw from it is a huge factor contributing to the joy and meaning of our lives. The more we know as teachers, the more we are free to fully express ourselves creatively and the more comfortable we feel trusting our intuition.

Attendance Policy:

Attendance at 70% of the live sessions is required for successful completion of the course. This means missing no more than 15 sessions per year. Hopefully this policy affords everyone enough flexibility to cover travel, illness, and life's surprises!

A Note About IAYT:

I received my primary education in yoga therapy through Tiffany Cruikshank and Yoga Medicine. Although I am also a C-IAYT, my school is not affiliated with IAYT and the curriculum I offer is different from what you might expect to find in an accredited IAYT program. If you are looking for the C-IAYT designation, you may be eligible to apply for the C-IAYT credential upon completion of your program with me through their Portfolio Review and Evaluation pathway. However, this is not guaranteed. If the C-IAYT credential is your primary motivating factor in pursuing yoga therapy education, I would encourage you to visit the IAYT website where you will find a comprehensive list of accredited IAYT yoga therapy training programs.
