Description

This course explores the intersection of yoga and cutting-edge research.  We’ll use fascia as our portal into different body systems – musculoskeletal, nervous, immune, lymphatic, digestive, endocrine, circulatory, and respiratory.  You will gain a treasure chest of tools to support whole-body health in yourself and in your students.

This course aims to provide you with a comprehensive, deep dive into the world of fascia.  This program will cover much of what you might expect in a fascial health course: myofascial release as well as breath-based and strength-based techniques to support fascial health.  But it will also cover many things that might surprise you!

In this course, the fascial system will serve as our gateway into learning about the many interconnected, regulatory systems that support homeostasis.  Homestasis is the process by which the body maintains internal stability in the face of changing external circumstanstances.  A.T. Still, physician, surgeon, and founder of osteopathic medicine said: “Fascia is where all the branches of medicine come together.”  In this course, you will discover just how true that statement is!

Topics covered include:

  • Fascia

  • Proprioception

  • Pain – Nociceptive, Neuropathic & Nociplastic

  • Chronic Pain

  • Inflammation

  • Immunity & Autoimmunity

  • Lymphatic Health

  • Gut Microbiota, Inflammation, & Immune System

  • Posture

  • Myofascial Release

  • Range of Motion & Styles of Stretching

  • Gait Cycle & Falling in the Elderly

  • Stress

  • Interoception & Mental Health

  • Sleep

  • Glymphatics

  • Resilience

I have been incorporating techniques for optimizing fascial health in my students for many years. The impact has been remarkable in terms of motor control, pain relief, injury recovery and prevention, inflammation & nervous system regulation, mental health, and much much more.  My hope is that this training provides you with a greater sense of agency regarding your own health and well-being and that it adds depth and nuance to your teaching.
